Uganda: House Building and Safari

The opportunity to combine a social work assignment with a photo safari.
The Task

Construction of a house for orphans with their house mother in the l’ESPERANCE children’s village Kinyo in Uganda. A construction team of about 12 men/women, about half of whom have manual experience, should be able to complete the task in about two weeks.

In two simple guest houses with magnificent views over Lake Victoria, each with two rooms and toilet with shower, small balcony.

EssenEating together

The food is tasty, healthy and digestible. The staple food is the plantain, from which a solid porridge is prepared, matooke, which tastes similar to mashed potatoes.

This is usually accompanied by vegetables and peanut sauce.

Alternatives are posho, a corn porridge, cassava or sweet potatoes.

Delicious fish, fresh from the lake, or meat can be prepared.
